Many people come to Baguio City for many reasons, but a trip to the city is incomplete if you will not go to the market. The market is considered to be the show window of the city; furthermore, gifted with economic activity, where different enterprises are found. Here you can find many fresh meat, vegetables, and fruits with affordable prices.

The Baguio City Public Market started way back then when it became the trade center of Kafagway (the name of Baguio back then) even before it became a chartered city. It is always been the center of trade where products from the lowlands and from the highlands (areas from the old Mountain Province) is being traded among local enterprises and buyers. In the year 1913, the Baguio City Public Market was formally established and covered an area of 77,770 square meters. In the mid-1960s, 4,672 square meters of land was leased by the Baguio Hilltop Enterprises. It is where the Hilltop Hotel used to stand and 5,000 square meters of land was leased to the Human Settlement Development Company. It is where the Maharlika Livelihood Center and Marbay currently stands. At present, the market occupies only about 61,707 square meters and is currently divided into blocks and sections where it is virtually imposing a zoning of the different products sold. There appeared the blocks 1-4, (the hanger market, footwear section, caldero section, tobacco section, dry goods and wet goods section, sari-sari section, rice section, fruit section, flower section, etc.).
